The 2022 New York International Auto Show is back. The 2022 World Auto Awards have finally made their appearance in person again. Last year’s winner was an electric car – Volkswagen ID.4. This year, the board headed into the future of the electric battery a little more difficult; Electric vehicles have received five out of six awards, including the World’s New Electric Vehicle of the Year award.

Hyundai was the big winner, with its flashy new Ioniq 5 SUV winning three awards, including World Car of the Year. Here is the full list of winners.

Hyundai’s vintage-inspired electric SUV/hatchback has won three great awards: World Car of the Year, Electric Vehicle of the Year, and World Car Design. It beat two tough runners-up, the Ford Mustang Mach E and Kia EV6, the latter built on the same e-GMP platform.
