Tesla’s Omead Afshar announced that Giga Texas is hiring and hinted that the Cyber Rodeo showed only a small peek at the innovation and manufacturing at the plant.
“It doesn’t matter where you come from, or where you went to school or what industry you’re in — we currently hire people of all levels,” Tesla states on the Giga Texas recruitment page. “If you do exceptional, join us in solving the next generation of engineering, manufacturing and operational challenges as we accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.”
Tesla Giga Texas employs people for engineering, manufacturing, operations, and construction. A quick search through Tesla’s careers page reveals all the jobs the company has opened for Giga Texas.
Tesla has 42 jobs listed under the construction and facilities category, including chief superintendent, utility electrical engineer, personnel construction manager, and construction superintendent.
Under the Manufacturing category, Giga Texas has 179 open positions. Manufacturing jobs in Texas include positions for battery manufacturing engineer, operations leader for cell manufacturing, senior robotics engineer, and senior robotics and automation manufacturing engineer.
Tesla also has seven positions open under the Operations and Business Support category at Giga Texas. For Operations, Giga Texas is looking for a Cell Fabrication Technical Program Manager, Logistics Driver, Logistics Coordinator, Senior System Design and Installation Manager, Drive Systems Technical Program Manager, Senior Plant Engineering Technical Program Manager, and Senior Vision Automation Project Manager.
Tesla Giga Texas has a well-thought-out design that leaves room for future production. The Austin plant in Tesla is currently focused on production of the new Model Y with a chassis battery and 4,680 cells. The first units of the Model Y equipped with Tesla’s 4680 battery pack were delivered during the Cyber Rodeo. Speaking of the Cyber Rodeo, Elon Musk announced that Giga Texas will produce a Cybertruck, Roadster, Semi, and even Optimus in 2023.
