Quest v39 Update Brings Multitasking Out Of ‘Experimental’

Quest v39 Update Brings Multitasking Out Of 'Experimental'

Quest’s v39 update is about to start rolling out to owners, but it’s a very small update this time around.

The latest platform update brings the “Share To Headset” feature to iOS. This feature, originally only available on Android, allows you to share content from the Oculus app to your headset. Meta is also externalizing Quest’s multitasking features, including navigating multiple 2D windows, from “experimental” to officially enabled features. This means that these options are now available as standard, although there hasn’t been a drastic change to how they actually work.

Finally, there is a new mountainous study environment for the house. It’s a typical idyllic spectacle with broad vistas and more (take a look below). Oh, and the Oculus browser icon has changed, too.

And that’s all there is to it. Like we said, this is a much smaller update than what we’re used to doing in Quest, but big things are on the way, with the “Horizon Homes” social feature, which will allow friends to hang out in their home spaces, just the way. However, we’re wondering if future updates might see the app abandon the Oculus branding now that the Quest hardware itself has replaced the old Meta logos.

As always, you can expect the update rollout to be fairly gradual, so don’t panic if you don’t see something right away.
