A man has been acquitted of raping a woman who told police she was assaulted after her drink was spiked during a night out.

Dale Garlick, 29, was charged with raping a woman over 16 in Stalybridge, Manchester, on September 25 last year.

Greater Manchester police said a woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, had told officers her drink had been spiked during a night out in a city center bar before being raped.

Garlick, of Calico Crescent, Stalybridge, was acquitted today of rape after a two-day trial at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester.
