OpenAI’s powerful new neural network has “drawn” a freaky-looking “Burger King” who could give bloodthirsty Henry VIII a run for his money.

DALL-E 2, the latest artificial intelligence system from the company co-founded by Elon Musk, can turn simple text messages into beautiful, realistic-looking works of art.

For this “painting,” OpenAI Market Director Adam Goldberg instructed the neural network to create “an oil portrait of the Royal Burger King posing with a Whopper” – and he did so at any time.

This latest work of DALL-E 2 art is another example of the growing power of neural networks, which less than a decade ago were generating psychedelic vortices for cookie-cutter and Corgis a la Google’s “Deep Dream” AI.

Given that OpenAI’s other major AI, text generation GPT, has garnered a lot of criticism for its frequent use, the company has made sure to keep tabs close on who can play with the latest AI. This means that only a select few can actually benefit from it as of now.

Having said that, it’s great to see this kind of generative art – and it makes us excited, if not a little horrified, to see what these computer systems will dream about next.
